Suparna Bakshi Ganguly had paid up Rs. 3,30,000 to Mysore Home Developers Pvt. Ltd. Mysore for two sites in Mysore taluk. Till date she has not received her sites and complained to the Mysore consumer districts redressal forum.
The President, H.M. Shivakumara Swamy has ordered Mysore Home Developers to refund the entire amount with interest at 18 per cent from 2005 onwards, along with Rs. 50,000 as compensation for deficient service.
He has also ordered them to pay up within a month of receiving its order, or else would face imprisonment from this court.
Ananthi Educational Health Care Charitable Trust in Mysore cheats consumer
S. Subramanyam of Mysore had paid up Rs. 37,000 to the Ananthi Educational Health Care Charitable Trust in Mysore to send a home nurse to his home, to care for his ailing mother. The Trust took his money and never sent the home nurse till his mother died.
When he urged them to return his money the Trust gave him two cheques of Rs. 18,000 each which bounced! A legal notice sent to them also did not help him to get back his money.
He finally complainted to the consumer forum Mysore and its President H.M. Shivakumar Swamy found the Trust guilty of deficient service causing mental agony to the complainant. He ordered it to return Rs. 36,000 to Subramanyam along with Rs. 5000 for causing mental agony, another Rs. 3000 for bad services and Rs. 2000 towards court costs.
Ambasa, a disabled person from Hubli purchased a Micromax BW1 81 Mobile from Bhandage’s Mobile World in Dharwad. Within a few days the set started giving trouble with the touch screen, battery backup and mother board. So he got it checked by an authorized Service Centre of Micromax, Sri Raghavendra Enterprises, Hubli which returned it claiming it would work smoothly.
But the set did not work and he had to take it back many more times and each time they returned it to him in a bad condition! He finally asked the shop, Bhandage’s to return his money.
Being a disabled person it was not possible for him to keep returning to the service centre which was an authorised one of Micromax Informatics Ltd. Gurgaon . But Bhandaje’s told him to either contact Micromax or the service centre as they could not help him. The problem was with the mother board but both shops refused to change it. He finally complained to the DISTRICT CONSUMER DISPUTES REDRESSAL FORUM, DHARWAD. Its President, Smt.C.H.Samiunnisa Abrar, found the shops guilty of unfair trade practice and deficient service towards a handicapped person and ordered the Micromax Informatics Ltd. service centre to repair the mobile within 15 days, failing which both shops should pay Rs.10,902/- to the Complainant with Rs.4,000/- (Rupees four thousand) towards mental agony and harassment and Rs.1,000/- (Rupees one thousand) towards litigation charges to the disabled complainant.
Chimakurthy Vamsi Krishna of Prakasam district had
- purchased a Black Berry Z-10 Smart Phone from BIG C Mobiles Private Limited,
Jyothi plaza, Ongole, Prakasam district for Rs.18,100/-. But very soon it stopped working causing him a lot of trouble. He took it to Big C Mobiles which took back the cell phone for repairs but after that, forgot all about it. He met them several times to get back his phone but they gave him evasive answers and did not return the phone.
- He even complained to Redington India Limited, the distributors for Black Berry phones but even they did not have the courtesy to respond to his complaint.
He finally complained to the THE DISTRICT CONSUMER DISPUTES REDRESSAL FORUM::PRAKASAM DISTRICT AT ONGOLE which found BIG C Mobiles Private Limited guilty of deficient service and ordered it to return the Black Berry repaired to the buyer or give him a new phone of the same model, within a month of receiving its order, failing which it would be imprisoned. The shop was also ordered to pay up Rs. 5000 as compensation to the consumer for causing him mental agony and inconvenience.
Palaparthi Kiran Babu
of Ongole town, Prakasam district had bought a Videocon washing machine from Techno Kart India Limited, in Ongole, for Rs. 10,131. It had a two year warranty.
But the machine did not work properly from the beginning itself and he complained to Techno Kart India Limited to rectify the problem. They sent a mechanic to his home to repair the washing machine but instead he damaged it even more than before!
He complained again, several times to Techno Kart India Limited and then to Tekcare India Private Limited,
which is the Authorized Officer in charge to Tekcare India Private Limited, located at Hyderabad. But none of these firms bothered to solve his problem. He finally had to complain to the DISTRICT CONSUMER DISPUTES REDRESSAL FORUM::PRAKASAM DISTRICT AT ONGOLE which sent its summons to both the firms which did not bother to even come to the consumer forum.
This forum found both firms guilty of deficient service and ordered them to repair his machine or provide a new Videocon machine to him, along with Rs. 1000 as compensation and Rs. 500 as costs.
Chandu of Tirupati rural, had purchased a Micromax Canvas 4 plus mobile phone with code SERMKOB 0533, IMEI/ESN No.911374001850442/911374001951448, for Rs.8,400/- with a warranty of one year from Big C Mobiles in Tirupati.
But very soon he found that the phone was bad and could not catch signals, and no outgoing calls. It was totally unusable.He complained to the shop and handed over the mobile to the Micromax service centre which returned it after 5 days, claiming that the problems had been sorted out. But to his dismay they were still there and the phone did not work. But twice more he had to take it to the service centre which returned it with the faults intact! When he had to give back the phone yet again, for the fourth time, the service centre neither repaired the mobile nor did they return it to him! This caused him severe irritation and he had to finally complain to the consumer forum. A legal notice sent to them also did not work!
The consumer forum President at Chittoor in Tirupati, SRI. M.RAMAKRISHNAIAH, found MicroMax in Delhi and Gurgao and the shop Big C. Mobiles in Tirupati guilty of deficiency in service and ordered them to repay Rs. 8400 to the buyer with Rs. 5000 as compensation for causing him annoyance and Rs. 2000 as costs.

for his Pigmy Account with them. But when it came to repaying him the amount they made excuses and kept him running from pillar to post, including the police and finally he complained to the consumer disputes redressal forum, Davangere.
The consumer forum President T.N. Sreenivasaiah ordered the Pigmy account operators to refund Rs. 13,800 to him with interest along with Rs. 3000 as compensation and Rs. 1500 as costs.
