Maruthi Tukaram Kole had registered his name with Naukri.com for a job. He was contacted by a firm called Jet Minds Consulting Pvt. Ltd. in Manipal Centre, Bangalore which offered him a job in Malaysia as a cook.
The firm took Rs. 1, 60,000 from him for a ticket and a visa and assured him that the travel visa would be changed into a working visa later.
But when he reached Malaysia he was shocked to be put to work as a dish washer in a hotel and not as a cook, as he had been promised. He was very unhappy there and did not have the money to return. With great difficulty his parents in India helped him to come back.
Jet Minds Consulting refused to return his money. He complained to the BANGALORE I ADDITIONAL DISTRICT CONSUMER DISPUTES REDRESSAL FORUM SHANTHINAGARwhich found Jet Minds Consulting guilty of indulging in unfair trade practice and deficient service and for causing financial and personal harm to Maruthi Kole.
The firm did not bother to come to the forum which ordered its proprietor Ms Anushka to refund Rs. 1,60,000 to Maruthi with interest at 12 per cent along with Rs. 25,000 as compensation and costs of Rs. 5000 within a month failing which it would face punishment.
