Mysore City Corporation & Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Yojane ordered to pay compensation to watchman’s son for misleading him about getting a house from them
M.K. Radhakrishna, son of a watchman in Mysore was selected by the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Yojane/Mysore City Corporation, in 2003 to be given a house under this scheme. As requested by them he had deposited Rs. 500 with the Cauvery Grameena Bank and also paid a service charge of Rs. 100. But he is still waiting for the house!
He complained to the Mysore consumer disputes redressal Forum which found the Member Secretary of the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Yojane and the Commissioner, Mysore City Corporation guilty of deficient service in promising a house to the complainant and then not informing him later that he was now not eligible for getting it!
The Mysore consumer forum ordered them to pay up Rs. 50,000 as compensation to M.K. Radhakrishna, within a month, failing which they would face imprisonment.
