Shopping Online has lost its charm for me at least!
Pisupati Nagaraju Sarma of Guntur was lured by the offer of brand new black Hush Puppies being sold online by MINTKART India Pvt. Ltd. on its website for Rs. 3080. He liked them and ordered them online on August 28, 2017 opting for cash on delivery system.
He paid up Rs. 3080 to MINTKART India when the package arrived. But on opening it he was dismayed to find the cardboard box was damaged. Even worse, the Hush Puppies were used and dusty and dirty old stock sold to him! He was shocked and contacted MINTKART India Pvt. Ltd. in Andheri West, which told him to get in touch with Raja Shoes, Proprietor Chand Kheda in Ahmedabad who would sort out the matter.
But this shop did not respond and he complained several times to MINTKART again but it ignored him and did not respond to a legal notice also. He finally complained to the District Consumer Forum, Guntur. The forum sent a notice to MINTKART which did not show up for the hearing.
The Forum President Sri B. Rama Rao found MINTKART India and Raja Shoes Ahmedabad guilty of deficient service, fraud and unfair trade practice and guilty of causing harm to the consumer. He ordered them to either refund Pisupati’s money or send him new Hush Puppies within six weeks of receiving its order! The President also ordered MINTKART India to pay up Rs. 25,000 as compensation to Pisupati for causing him mental agony and suffering.
