Rainwater Harvesting is the new Magic word in Tintinhull House Garden in Somerset!

How one garden saved rainwater for the entire year in the UK!

Rainwater harvesting happened by accident in the Tintinhull House garden in Somerset, in the UK.

They were having some gravel delivered and on the lorry was a 550 gallon plastic central heating oil tank, which had been bought cheaply. They plugged it into the guttering on the potting sheds, and were startled to see how quickly it filled up with precious water! They worked out that from one average roof they could get three to four thousand gallons in just one winter!

They decided to harvest the rain in this almost magical way and now have a network of eight tanks in place, which supplies the nursery with all the water for the entire year!
