The Advertising Standards Council of India has rapped Godfrey Phillips India Ltd. for claiming in its ads that its Pan Masala is pure as gold. This sounds both ridiculous, silly and false as every pan masala carries the required information same as cigarettes that it is injurious to health. The ASCI found the company guilty of puffery! How can Pan Masala be pure as gold, they asked the firm.
This company went further by making more ridiculous, hilarious claims about being considered India’s No. I brand – by World Consulting Research Corporation, and Planman Media and other such mysterious and mystifying groups that they were not able to produce before the ASCI. for verification of their existence!
