Friends of the Earth tell us that paper accounts for one quarter of household waste. And the World Wildlife Federation says that EU production of paper consumables destroys 2.5 million trees a year.
We all love trees so we can use washable cloths as much as possible instead of paper towels. Remember that tattered, discarded cotton/polyester shirts can also be used in place of paper towels!
Denim too can have green uses when it becomes tatty: use it for heavy jobs, such as wiping the kitchen floor, or the bathroom.
Old bath towels become nice kitchen wipes and will save a lovely tree somewhere!
