M.V.S. Girija Kumari from Nellore had bought a Prestige Induction Cook Top from Big Bazaar for Rs. 2299. When she asked them to demonstrate the usage of the same, they refused, telling her that it was from a reputed company and they had put the warranty and the working manual in with the stove.
But when she opened her package she found that the stove was damaged and there was no manual or warranty in it. When she asked Big Bazaar to exchange the stove for a good one, they said it was out of stock and she should go to the Prestige customer care centre and get it repaired.
She complained to the Nellore consumer forum and finally got Big Bazaar to replace the stove with a new one and the forum also ordered Big Bazaar to pay up Rs. 2000 as
damages to her along with Rs. 1000 as costs!
