Amazon Development Center India ordered to pay Rs. 20,000 to consumer waiting in vain for his television
Bodempudi Srinivasa Rao from Guntur, had ordered a Smart television, 65 inches, from Amazon Development Center India, by paying Rs. 79990 for it. He was told the television would arrive within three to five days. He wanted it for the festival for which he had invited guests to his home, to watch progammes on the new television.
But instead of the television Amazon kept sending him endless emails to tell him that the television was on the way. Several days later Amazon told him that they had cancelled the order! They returned his money.
So he complained to the district consumer forum Guntur, and its President B. Rama Rao ordered Amazon Development Center India to pay Rs. 20,000 as compensation for causing mental agony due to deficient service to Rao, along with interest at 24 per cent on his money they had kept for so long, and costs of Rs. 2000.
