Vignesh Shanbagh and his mother had bought an apartment from Good Luck Developers in Margao Goa. But the decision turned out to be not so good when in 2013 heavy rains flooded Goa and seeped dangerously into the apartment.
It damaged the walls of their home and also the wooden cupboard they had installed. When they complained to the developers they were given a cheque for Rs. 30,000 to pay for the damages to be rectified. Here too good luck did not come to their aid as the cheque bounced!
The State Consumer Forum in Goa ordered Good Luck Developers to pay up Rs. 30,000 to the consumers with interest at 9 per cent, along with Rs. 15,000 and another Rs. 10,000 as costs.
Good Luck Developers went in appeal against this order to the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in New Delhi where good luck did not accompany the faulty developers! The Commission dismissed their appeal so they will have to pay up for their rain drenched apartment, within a month of receiving this order or else they will be imprisoned.
