Remember to buy Soil Association products
The logo Soil Association Organic promises that the food is produced on organic farms using environmentally and animal-friendly farming methods.
What this means: all aspects of production, including animal welfare, wildlife conservation, food processing and packaging, are covered. No artificial fertilisers are used, and pesticide use is restricted. Meat and poultry comes from animals reared according to stringent welfare standards and must be genuinely free-range.
Routine use of antibiotics is banned on organic farms (drugs can be used to treat illness only). Stunning and slaughter are done to guidelines.
The bottom line: The food is organic and produced according to the highest welfare standards in Britain.
