Raghu from Mysore had bought two “Designer Shirts” from Oswai Fashions, Mysore. They cost Rs. 2400. But when he washed the yellow shirt to wear for a festival, the colour spread all over it and it was unusable. The shirt he realized was hardly a “designer” shirt as claimed by the shop!
When he took the shirt back to Oswai Fashions, the staff was rude to him and refused to solve the problem. He was forced to complain to the Mysore Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum.
The Forum President Mr. M.M. Shivakumar Swamy found the shop guilty of unfair trade practice as it was selling an inferior shirt by calling it a designer shirt! He ordered the shop owner to pay up Rs. 1200 to Raghu, with Rs. 1000 as compensation and Rs. 500 as costs.
