Online shopping is not as safe as we might want it to be. This was proven when one of the biggest online sellers, Amazon India was found guilty of cheating buyers with distorted facts about a product they were promoting online. It has been rapped by the Advertising Standards Council of India, which received a complaint from a consumer.
Amazon India (HTC Desire 620G Dual Sim): For this product, HTC Desire 620G Dual Sim being sold on Amazon India, the website communication claiming the MRP of the product as Rs.14,900 which is false. The advertisement offering at the discounted price of Rs.7375, when the actual MRP of the product is Rs.9990, distorts facts and is therefore misleading the consumers as to the actual discount being offered.
This isn’t the first time that Amazon India has been found guilty of false claims. Earlier it had been advertising a watch on line by giving wrong figures about its Maximum Retail Price: MRP. The ASCI had also pulled it up for misleading people.
