There are several products being sold online by the Patanjali Ayurvedic Products promoted and owned by the controversial Guru and Yoga expert Baba Ramdev.

Eerily, they claim to cure piles, fistula, paralysis, and memory loss! By making these very tall claims, the firm is guilty of invoking the penalties of the Drugs and Magic Remedies Act! Promising magical cures for dangerous ailments, without any proof of their powers, is wrong, says this Act.

The Indian Medical Association had demanded strict and immediate action against yoga guru Baba Ramdev in 2012,stating that his claims to cure heart diseases, diabetes and cancer were false.

“His claims are in violation of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisement Act), 1954, which was created to crack down on quackery!

Baba Ramdev is a very popular Yoga Guru and has a very huge following, but Dr. Anil Bansal, IMA Joint Secretary has said “we will not allow anyone to make claims about helping cure cancer, diabetes and heart diseases” .

The Indian Council of Medical Research has also complained about this Guru and his claims (to the Drugs Controller of India) on television and other media about curing cancer and other diseases through his concoctions. One sad incident occurred when a Government official died after taking an excessive amount of bitter gourd medicine as a cure for cancer as advised by Baba Ramdev!
