Gardens with trees encourage more wildlife than those without them!
The US Department of Energy estimates that just three trees, properly placed around the house, can save an average household between 100 $ and 250 $ in energy costs annually.
To make those trees work their magic really well, let them grow on the south and west sides of your home. Deciduous trees will shade in summer and permit light and radiant heat to pass through in winter.
Choose varieties from your own environment, which will grow fast and be tall enough to do their job of greening your home!
Make sure you keep them safe from underground wires, sewer lines, septic tanks or house foundations.
Gardens with trees have been found to be always better for luring wildlife. They get more varieties of them too, than those without trees. They provide a vertical layer for wildlife activity, encouraging caterpillars which birds will take regularly to feed their young ones. Trees will provide safe holes and crannies for birds to nest in.
