- Don’t burn your fallen leaves! Over 400 types of leaf-mining moths live on the underside of fallen dead leaves during autumn. And the caterpillar, greenfly and hopper fly all pupate in the leaf and meet an early death if burnt. It is a green and bright choice to compost the leaves, make a rich organic mix for use on parks and gardens.
- Don’t drop litter. Get into the difficult but necessary habit of telling people that you find dropping litter unacceptable! Wild life suffers when we drop litter.
- Plant flowers on your windowsill! Encourage butterflies and birds to look in on you!
